In England and Wales, there are now new regulations governing the ownership of American XL bully dogs.
Without a certificate of exemption, it is against the law to own one, and in public, registered dogs must wear a leash and be muzzled.
Additionally, Scotland has declared a ban that will take effect later this year.
What is an XL bully in America?
The largest breed of American bully dog is the XL bully. Classic, pocket, and standard are some other varieties.
Although the UK Kennel Club does not recognize XL bullies as a distinct breed, the government has released guidelines to aid in identifying these animals.
Large canines “with a muscular body and blocky head, suggesting great strength and power for [their] size” are how the article characterizes them.
