The Fijian Rugby 7s team has been dealt a significant blow as star playmaker Waisea Nacuqu is sidelined with an injury that will keep him out until the end of next month. Nacuqu, known for his electrifying speed and game-changing abilities, is a key figure in Fiji’s Sevens squad, and his absence is causing concerns ahead of several crucial tournaments.

The injury, sustained during a recent training session, has been confirmed as more serious than initially anticipated. Nacuqu will undergo an intensive rehabilitation program, but medical staff have stated that he will not be fit to return to the field until late next month at the earliest.

This injury crisis comes at a challenging time for Fiji, with important fixtures in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series looming. Coach Ben Gollings acknowledged the difficulty of losing such an influential player, but he remains optimistic. “Waisea is a vital part of our team, but we have to adapt and find solutions. The depth of talent in this squad gives us confidence, and we’ll need other players to step up in his absence,” Gollings stated.

Nacuqu’s absence will force Fiji to rely on younger, less experienced players to fill the void, putting additional pressure on the team to maintain their high standards. Fiji, a dominant force in Sevens rugby, will now be navigating this injury crisis as they aim to stay competitive in the global series while awaiting their star’s return.
