Eight times Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson is uncertain about whether he will play for Pittsburgh in Year 14, but he has no plans to retire. In his “All Things Covered” podcast, Peterson stated that the Steelers now have the upper hand.
“It’s unclear if the Steelers want me to play for them until the end. “There’s a reason I signed a two-year contract,” Peterson said to Bryant McFadden, co-host.
In the previous offseason, Peterson signed a $20 million, two-year contract with Pittsburgh. He is anticipated to deduct $30.775 million from the salary cap.
Regarding Peterson’s potential comeback, Tomlin remained ambiguous following the season. The player, who spent ten years in Arizona before spending two years in Minnesota and one season in Pittsburgh, was once selected in the first round and is aware of the decision’s financial implications.
“What is the strategy? Because I am aware that I am older, that is a tale for another time. I am aware of that,” Peterson remarked, adding that at this point in his career, a player’s salary cap is always a factor.
For a 33-year-old corner, Peterson performed about as well as one could have expected. Although he was sometimes defeated early on, he guided younger players such as Peterson’s. Although his tackling could have been improved from that position, Peterson’s versatility helped him as he moved to safety in the closing moments.
