Next Friday marks the official opening of a Bar of Their Own, the first sports bar in the state solely devoted to women’s sports, ushering in a new chapter in Minnesotan history.
The company, which was revealed a year ago, is situated at 2207 E. Franklin Avenue, formerly Tracy’s Saloon & Eatery, in Minneapolis’s Seward district. Plans for “a big ol’ Grand Opening Weekend party” were revealed on Friday, along with the opening at noon on March 1:
A heads up: due to strong demand, this will be a first-come, first-served weekend.
“We *will not* be taking reservations and anticipate there will be long lines, so please plan accordingly as our incredible team works hard to ensure as many people can be a part of the celebration as possible!” The owners said on social media. “Thank you in advance for your patience and grace–we can’t wait to see y’all!”
A successful crowdfunding campaign that raised over $5,000 above its $200,000 target helped to make the bar possible.
Customers can anticipate “a wide variety of food and beverage options, including a robust menu accommodating different dietary needs with a killer craft beer selection and tasty mocktails,” according to the crowdfunding effort, in addition to a full slate of televised women’s sports events.
