MSU basketball guard Jaden Akins named as an Academic All
April 19, 2025

Michigan State basketball had one of the best senior leaders it could ask for in the form of Jaden Akins, who spent four years in the Spartans program.

Akins is a native of Farmington (MI), and did his best to portray the values of what the culture of Michigan State basketball has been under head coach Tom Izzo. In his senior year with the team, Akins fulfilled the values of being an MSU student athlete.

In his senior year, it was not about the points he scored on the court or the rebounds he secured, or being the All-Big Ten defender that he is, but what he did in the classroom is what was outlined as a massive highlight for 2025-26.

On Tuesday, Akins was named as a second team Academic All-American, giving him substantial honors for the work he did off of the floor.
