FSU Football hires new staff member ...

Florida State University (FSU) has recently bolstered its football coaching staff by hiring several key figures from various programs, including the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Tony White – Defensive Coordinator

Tony White, formerly the defensive coordinator at Nebraska, has been appointed as FSU’s new defensive coordinator. Under White’s leadership, Nebraska’s defense ranked among the top 20 nationally in both 2023 and 2024. His aggressive and innovative defensive schemes have been recognized for their effectiveness, and he brings a wealth of experience to the Seminoles’ program.

Gus Malzahn – Offensive Coordinator

Gus Malzahn, with a history of success at Auburn and Central Florida, has been named FSU’s offensive coordinator. Known for his innovative offensive strategies, Malzahn’s teams have consistently ranked high in rushing and total offense. His appointment aims to revitalize FSU’s offensive unit and bring a dynamic approach to the game.

Herb Hand – Offensive Line Coach

Herb Hand, a veteran offensive line coach with experience at institutions like UCF, Texas, and Auburn, has joined FSU as the offensive line coach. Hand is renowned for developing top-tier offensive lines that achieve high national rankings in rushing, offense, and third-down conversions. His expertise is expected to bolster FSU’s offensive line performance.

Terrance Knighton – Defensive Line Coach

Terrance Knighton, a former NFL player with a standout career, has been appointed as FSU’s defensive line coach. Knighton brings a wealth of experience from both his playing days and coaching roles, including stints at Nebraska and with the Carolina Panthers. Evan Cooper – Safeties Coach

Evan Cooper, a Miami native with extensive coaching experience, has been hired as FSU’s safeties coach. Cooper’s background includes roles at Nebraska and with the Carolina Panthers, and he reunites with several members of FSU’s coaching staff. His appointment is expected to enhance the development of FSU’s safeties and contribute to the overall strength of the defense.
