Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl is engaged to be married.
The 28-year-old centre proposed to his girlfriend, actor Celeste Desjardins, sharing photos Thursday of the tender seaside moment with the word “Forever” and a heart emoji to his Instagram account from the Spanish island of Mallorca.
Desjardins, also 28, hails from Sudbury, Ont., and has starred in such TV productions as ‘Taken’ and ‘Fashionably in Love.’
She also shared a picture of the occasion on her Instagram account, stating, “The simplest yes. I will always love you.”

Less than three weeks have passed since the Oilers faced the triumphant Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. Draisaitl has an eight-year deal with the Oilers that is about to expire.
Additionally, the engagement occurs sixteen days prior to the wedding of another Oilers star. On July 27, Connor McDavid will wed his fiancée Lauren Kyle. In June of last year, the long-term pair declared their engagement.
