The busiest recruiting day of the year has come and gone, with dozens of talented recruits signing to officially join the Michigan Wolverines next fall.

According to two university sources, head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines have received an accusations notice from the NCAA, which will examine potential recruiting breaches that happened during the COVID recruiting dead period.
In addition to the initial claims, it is alleged that Harbaugh did not cooperate with and/or misled NCAA investigators, according to an ABC News piece. Derrick Crawford, the NCAA’s vice president of hearing operations, addressed the downplaying of these charges in the same piece.
“The Michigan infractions case is related to impermissible on and off-campus recruiting during the COVID-19 dead period, as well as impermissible coaching activities — not a cheeseburger,” Derrick Crawford, NCAA vice president of hearing operations, said in a statement, referring to some media reports’ oversimplification of the violations.
“It is not uncommon for the [infractions committee] to seek clarification on key facts before accepting.” If the COI determines that the agreement is not in the best interests of the Association or that the sanctions are not acceptable, it may reject an NR [negotiated resolution]. If the parties involved are unable to resolve a dispute through the mediated resolution procedure, the case may be heard, but the committee feels collaboration is the best way to promptly resolve concerns.”
The comment about the cheeseburger refers to the downplaying of the allegations. It has been dubbed “Burgergate” by many Michigan faithful.
