News Now: REPORT: The Kansas City Chiefs may pursue a star wide receiver in 2024.

While the 2023 season is far from over, the Kansas City Chiefs appear to already be thinking of what they could do in the offseason to improve the roster around Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City’s wide receiving corps is one of the areas that could really use some boost moving forward, and that’s something the Chiefs could look to address in the 2024 NFL Draft, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

As Russini noted, the Chiefs were unable to upgrade their WR group due to various  issues, including the lack of younger free agent wideouts in the market. Not to mention that they had spent a lot of money in restructuring Mahomes’ contract so that he can earn $40 million in each of the next four years.

While they did try to trade up in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, there was no team who was willing to partner up with them to make it happen.

Russini added, “They did find value by trading up in the second round and taking Rashee Rice, who trails only Puka Nacua and Sam LaPorta in receptions among rookies and has seven touchdowns and 754 yards. Look for the Chiefs to try to draft a top receiver this April.”

It remains to be seen if the Kansas City Chiefs will try to move up in the 2024 NFL Draft to acquire a top wideout, though there are certainly a number of intriguing prospects they could target.

Ohio State Buckeyes wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. is certainly someone who could be a gamechanger for any team, as well as LSU’s Malik Nabers and Washington’s Rome Odunze.

If the Chiefs are able to move up and get a top wideout, it will surely be massive in their Super Bowl dreams moving forward.

As mentioned, the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiving corps could really use some help. Rashee Rice has been incredible, but Patrick Mahomes still often finds himself relying on Travis Kelce too much to make plays and get something to happen.
