The day has no real overall theme. Six different conferences are represented in the three games. There are no champions, but one of today’s competitors was a finalist. The New York Giants will almost certainly receive an apology letter or two (or three) from league headquarters this week after their officiating crew, lead by Ron Torbert, cost Big Blue a number of botched decisions or no-called in Week 16.

In a now-viral moment during the 33-25 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Brian Daboll raged on the officials.

Officials punished rookie center John Michael Schmitz for a false start on a critical fourth-down play, despite the fact that it was not a false start. Indeed, it should have been referred to as a defensive offsides.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles had a chance to play South Alabama in the 68 Ventures Bowl on Saturday.

Unfortunately for them, finishing on the losing end of a 59-10 score left one Eagles player, senior defensive back Korey Hernandez, looking for another one, which culminated in a sucker punch on the enemy long after the final whistle had blown.

Several videos shot by spectators and later shared on social media showed Hernandez sprinting down the field as South Alabama chanted their alma mater to celebrate the victory. When Hernandez punched South Alabama defensive back Jamarrien Burt in the back of the head while Burt was still wearing his helmet, a scuffle developed, involving members of both schools before the fight was broken up.
