Breaking News: Texas Transfer WR Casey Cain Finds New

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Casey Cain, a transfer receiver for the Texas Longhorns, has found a new home through the portal. Cain revealed his transfer to UNLV on social media Thursday, joining former Texas receivers coach Brennan Marion, who is now the Rebels’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Cain will continue to train with the Longhorns in preparation for the College Football Playoff. While coaches are rarely happy to see players leave their programs, reuniting with a former outstanding Longhorns assistant in Marion may do wonders for Cain, who will enter his junior season in 2021 after redshirting his first year in Austin. Cain was expected to be a solid complementary receiver in Steve Sarkisian’s offense entering the season, but he dropped far behind on the depth chart. Cain, on the other hand, had only one reception for 13 yards this season after appearing in 13 games and starting three in 2022. 201 yards. Cain caught a 29-yard catch late in the fourth quarter against Alabama in September 2022, putting the Longhorns in position for a game-winning field goal. Texas lost 20-19 despite gaining the lead thanks to his efforts.

Cain had a career high with four catches for 108 yards in the Alamo Bowl versus Washington.
