SAD NEWS: Detroit Lions star is suffering from career ending injury…..
|Saivion Smith, a Detroit Lions cornerback, was rushed off the field in New England in an ambulance and sent to a hospital to be checked for a neck injury.
The situation was terrifying, with the ambulance arriving on the field to remove Smith, who was placed on a backboard. A man walked out of the stands and hopped into the ambulance as it departed the field, according to the Fox broadcast (via John Niyo of the Detroit News).
Smith was restrained by a backboard. The collision, which involved New England Patriots tight end
, did not appear to be particularly vicious.
The Fox broadcast said before the end of the first half that Smith had movement in his extremities, via Benjamin Raven of MLive.com.
Smith, who played in college at Alabama, appeared in six games with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 and a combined three games in 2021 between the San Francisco 49ers and Lions.
Coming off consecutive losses and a slew of injuries, it is fair to say that the Detroit Lions‘ pride is hurt, literally and figuratively.
At the start of the week, it appeared that the only big injury news to keep an eye on was Matthew Stafford’s. The injury report for this week indicates otherwise.
Many of the Lions’ key players are questionable for Sunday’s game. Only Sam Martin, one of the eleven players named on the report, participated in a full session this week.
