SAD NEWS FOR MICHIGAN HE NEVER WISH TO PLAY AGAIN

After the CFP win, Jim Harbaugh of Michigan says, “I just want to enjoy this,” avoiding an NFL question.

Even as Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines celebrated the team’s victory against Washington in the national championship game on Monday, the coach’s future appears to be still up in the air.

Again, Harbaugh sidestepped concerns regarding his future at Michigan, stating that all he wanted was to enjoy his team’s championship without having to answer to the topic of whether he would leave the Wolverines to play in the NFL.

“I just want to enjoy this,” Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said to reporters following Michigan’s Monday 34-13 victory over Washington in Houston. “I want to savor this moment.” I’m hoping you give it to me. Can a man possess that? Does the focus always have to be on the future and what’s next?

All season long, there have been rumors that Harbaugh, 60, would like to return to coaching in the NFL. The last national champion of the College Football Playoffs coached the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014. It is also said that he had interviews for the Minnesota opening two seasons prior and the Denver opening the previous season. There have also been rumors of interest in the Wolverines coach from a number of NFL teams with head coach positions.

Following Monday’s College Football Playoff championship game, Warde Manuel, the athletic director of Michigan, spoke openly with media about his opinions regarding Harbaugh’s future.

“He’s always going to be somebody I’m proud of who coached the University of Michigan, who led this team,” he stated. And I’ll be thrilled for him and sad for us if he decides he wants another chance to coach in the pros. We’re going to go on and locate the following individual to (coach).

“But I’d prefer that he remain at Michigan. When others asked me to get rid of him three or four years ago, I stated and believed it. I didn’t because I still believe what I believed at the time.”

Did Jim Harbaugh drop hint about his plans for 2024?

Following his interviews with Minnesota in February 2022, Harbaugh inked a five-year contract extension with Michigan that would go through the 2026 campaign. Additionally, Harbaugh was allegedly given a 10-year, $125 million contract extension right before the College Football Playoffs. The deal featured a no-NFL clause, which would have prevented Harbaugh from considering any NFL jobs until after the 2024 season.
