Bad News on top bad news: Cincinnati Bengals head coach has just announced

CINCINNATI — Bill Belichick won’t be on the sideline when the Bengals host the Patriots next season.

After winning six Super Bowls and spending 24 seasons together, Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Belichick decided to part ways. He’s just 15 wins shy of breaking Don Shula’s NFL record for wins (347) as a head coach.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Mike Reiss were the first ones to report the news.

It’s unclear what direction the Patriots will go in for their next head coach, but a quarter of the league is searching for a new head coach. There are eight open jobs, including Seattle, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
