Kafka has been with the Giants for two seasons after joining New York from his time with Andy Reid in Kansas City. In 2023, the bottom fell out for the Giants, who finished 6-11 amid an injury-filled season. The offense finished 29th, the rushing offense finished 16th, and the passing offense finished 31st. The Giants also struggled to score, averaging 15.6 points per game. Despite the struggles, head coach Brian Daboll told reporters during his season-ending press conference that he expected Kafka to return in 2024, calling him a good coach. However, when asked if Kafka would return as the play caller, a role he’s had for two seasons with the Giants, Daboll said, “Those are conversations we’ll have here over the next few months of what direction we’ll go, and we’ll make those decisions as we do a full evaluation.”
