Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of Michigan, is the only candidate that fully suits the Los Angeles Chargers’ needs in a head coach. It appears like Harbaugh and the Chargers may soon be joining forces in Los Angeles, since the two have been connected for some time.

That’s not final, though. The Michigan Wolverines are making every effort to hold onto their head coach, who has won a national championship. The facts of Jim’s possible Michigan extension contract have been revealed by NFL insider Don Kleiman and Yahoo columnist Dan Wetzel.

We don’t blame Michigan in the slightest for their unwillingness to part with their head coach. Arguably the best coach in this cycle of searches, Harbaugh has elevated the Wolverines to unprecedented heights. He has returned Michigan to the elite ranks of college football, and they plan to stay there

However, the Bolts want to be the NFL’s elite team, and Harbaugh is the right fit. He’s done it with the Stanford Cardinal, the San Francisco 49ers, and Michigan, and I believe he could do it with the Bolts. It won’t be easy, though, as they have competition for Harbaugh and won’t give in that easily.

How bad do the Wolverines want to keep Jim, though? NFL reporter for NFL Network Ian Rapaport said that Michigan offered Harbaugh a contract extension for 10 years, $125 million, in late December. Fast forward a couple of weeks later, and it’s now at 6 years, $11.5 million guaranteed per year.
