Due to a collaboration with Mercyhurst University, the Lake Erie Sports Alliance is now known as the Mercyhurst Jr. Lakers.
The university and the athletics program have partnered and are starting a new program specifically for younger kids.
For individuals who are new to skating, the Little Lakers Learn to Skate and Play program provides access to the ice.
According to leaders, the collaboration makes sense and benefits both companies.
Leaders hope that by providing more chances for local kids, these kinds of activities will lessen the need for them to go outside the area to participate in elite youth sports programs.
