(AP) — OXFORD, Miss. Johni Broome of Auburn met one of his favorite movie actors and told Morgan Freeman he was sorry about the way it went down.

After someone in the front row grabbed his shirt in the second half of the Tigers’ 91-77 victory over Mississippi on Saturday night, Broome, who scored 15 points in the game, attempted to stop the ball from getting out of bounds.

Believing it was an Ole Miss supporter attempting to frighten him, Broome brushed the individual’s arm aside.

It turned out to be actor Freeman, the Academy Award winner, who loves Mississippi and goes to a lot of Rebels games.

“I sort of pulled his hand off,” Broome said to the press. “As an avid moviegoer, I recognized who it was.

“I’m just like, ‘Apologies again,'” Broome remarked. “You all good, he said. Simply continue playing. He’s a really decent man. adore him.

With a dominant second half, Broome and his Auburn colleagues overcame a first-half deficit of 13 points to defeat Freeman’s preferred squad. The Rebels dropped to 18-4 and 5-4 in conference play, while the Tigers improved to 18-4 overall and 7-2 in the Southeastern Conference.
