Williams’ top quarterback prospect was ready to walk on with the Sooners when the coaching staff decided not to award him a scholarship, according to Riley, who originally coached him at Oklahoma. In the end, Williams spent one season under Riley at Oklahoma in 2021, splitting time behind the center position with Spencer Rattler.

After that, he followed the coach to USC, where his individual excellence with the Trojans helped him develop into the top draft prospect he is today. After throwing for 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns, and five interceptions on 66.6 percent of his passes in 2022—when he won the Heisman Trophy—Williams went on to throw for 30 touchdowns and five picks in 2023.

He was graded 9.2 overall by B/R’s NFL Scouting Department, which also placed him as the fourth-best prospect for the 2024 NFL draft.
