Wyoming Press Release: Laramie, Wyo. Tuesday’s 91-73 loss to No. 25 New Mexico in the Arena-Auditorium marked the Cowboys’ first conference home loss. For the second straight game, the Pokes had trouble from the field, shooting just 28% in the first half before rallying to shoot 51% in the second. The Cowboys finish with a 12-11 overall record and a 5-5 conference record.

The Lobos jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the opening three and a half minutes of the game, slowing down the Cowboy offense early in the game. At 15:46 in the first frame, Wenzel gave the Pokes their first goal of the match.

With less than 14 minutes remaining in the half, the Lobos took a 12-3 lead thanks to the three ball. Halfway through the first 20 minutes of the game, the Cowboys went on a 9-0 run over three minutes to tie the game at 12-12. Griffin highlighted the run by hitting the first three of the game.

In the opening two and a half minutes of the first half, Wenzel and Manyawu added three-pointers and a free throw, making the score 44-31. However, Jamal Mashburn, Jr. added a four-point play to make it 48-31 and subsequently extended the lead to 53-33.
