MLB commissioner Rob Manfred announced on Friday that former Mets GM Billy Pepper has been placed on the ineligible list through the end of the 2024 World Series for violating rules regarding the injured list.

Per MLB’s release, Eppler’s violations included “the deliberate use of fabrication of injuries, and the associated submission of documentation for the purposes of securing multiple improper Injured List placements during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.”

No other Mets official will be disciplined for the violation.

“The Mets have been informed of the conclusion of Major League Baseball’s investigation. With Billy Eppler’s resignation on October 5, 2023, and with David Stearns leading the Baseball Operations team, the Mets consider the matter closed and will have no further comment,” the team said in a statement soon after.

Eppler resigned as Mets GM following the 2023 season. despite being expected to work with Stearns, after MLB opened its probe into his improper use of the IL. The investigation began as a result of an anonymous source.

Eppler was hired in November 2021, with the team going 101-61 in his first season, securing a wild-card berth but was eliminated by the Padres in three games.

He signed free agents Max Scherzer, Starling Martens, Kodak Senga, Jose Quintana and Justin Verlander and made deadline trades to revamp the farm system, adding top prospects Luisangel Acura, Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford.
