Sad News: Is it really true that the Cowboys aren’t making hints that they won’t sign Dak Prescott?

Dak Prescott Wasn't Good Enough, and the Cowboys Aren't, Either

LAS VEGAS—The ‘ management appears to be laying the groundwork through “leaks” and “hints” to avoid signing quarterback Dak Prescott to a long-term, high-paying contract while simultaneously maintaining that “America’s Team” is “all in” for winning a Super Bowl in 2024.

Furthermore, we are having trouble seeing how the two ideas work together.

According to conventional thinking and the initial plan for Prescott’s contract, which included the infamous $59 million cap hit for 2024, an extension of the contract is expected by March 13 (the date that cap compliance is necessary and the start of the NFL business year).

Has the “wisdom” led by Jerry Jones changed? Has the plan for the front office changed?

Call them “leaks,” “hints,” or whatever you want to call them, but two articles that surfaced during Super Bowl Week seem to point toward that possibility.

The technically accurate fact that Prescott hasn’t participated in a conference championship was first included in a Dallas News article. The headline, which implied that Prescott isn’t as good as players like Blake Bortles and Ryan Tannehill, confused several readers.

With the timing of it all, why that story? We have to admit that despite all of the criticism—much of it valid—aimed at Dak Prescott, we have never once seen it through a lens that depicted him as Blake Bortles’ less talented player.
