CNN) — Lifelong Green Bay Packers fan Bill Port has played fantasy football for 23 years and is familiar with every player on an NFL roster.
For this reason, Port chose to apply for the role of defensive coordinator when it became available with the Packers. After all, most NFL teams wouldn’t turn a blind eye to three regular season titles and three playoff titles in 23 seasons.
Apart from his achievements in fantasy football, Port also mentioned his brief involvement in varsity football as a high school junior.
“I hope you get a good laugh out of this,” Port adds in a small comment at the bottom, as she tells CNN Sport.
“After that, my cover letter was really clear-cut and uncomplicated. It said something like, “I thought I’d try this defensive coordinator thing since I heard your organization has a job opening.” Note that I would rather not work weekends. I then spoke the words “Go Pack Go.”
