This offseason, Ragnow said on Monday, he needed time away to recuperate physically and “figure everything out.”

Ragnow, who is only 27, has struggled with numerous injuries recently. He was mentioned on the injury report at different points this season with back, knee, ankle, and toe symptoms. He has played three seasons with an irreversible chronic toe injury. Ragnow sprained his knee during a victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers one week prior, but he did not miss a play in the NFC championship game against the 49ers last week.

“It wears you out,” Ragnow remarked. “It really takes a toll on you, so I need to find a way to get back to Frank and I don’t regret any of this at all, but it weighs on you and I’m just going to take some time and really figure everything out to make sure that I’m feeling good, not only for me the football player but for me to be the best husband and best father and everything with that as well.”

Ragnow was regularly granted one practice day off per week by the Lions.
