SAD NEWS: News from the Wests Tigers: Benji Marshall’s replacement for recruitment chief Scott Fulton..

With head of recruitment Scott Fulton leaving the team less than a year into his position, the apparently never-ending drama surrounding the Wests Tigers has taken yet another turn.NRL 2023: Benji Marshall, Wests Tigers, Scott Fulton, Wests Tigers feud, Tim Sheens

The decision was communicated to Fulton by newly appointed interim CEO Shane Richardson. This development adds to Concord’s hectic off-season, which began last month when the club reviewed and replaced the whole board.

Last year, Fulton was signed by CEO Justin Pascoe and former chairman Lee Hagipantelis, a move that at the time sparked rifts within the coaching staff.

The decision was reportedly made without the head coach Tim Sheens’ input, and last year’s major news was dominated by an unpleasant standoff between Benji Marshall and Fulton over alleged differences in recruiting approach.

Since then, Marshall has assumed leadership after Sheens, only a year into a long-term succession plan, announced his departure in the middle of the season.

The new head coach will now be a member of a three-person recruiting committee, which also includes Richardson and Matthew Betsey, the acting head of football.

The action follows the Tigers’ acquisition of Penrith’s three-time premiership-winning playmaker Jarome Luai, who was their largest signing to date.

Richardson stated that the team was still looking for players while going over specifics of the big five-year contract that will make the Samoan international the face of the Tigers’ comeback.
