Over the previous 25 years, the Wests Tigers have produced a number of champion youth athletes, and this latest group may be on par with any in the past.Consider James Tedesco, Robbie Farah, and Mitchell Moses. A few up-and-coming players are now honing their craft at Concord and have the potential to challenge each of them.

Teenagers Lachlan Galvin and Talyn Da Silva get their names entered into the black book. Galvin, a rising gun, is scheduled to make his Wests Tigers debut at the formal NRL trials the following weekend.

Galvin, 18, graduated from Westfield Sports High School last year and is more than capable of managing himself among the top 30 Wests Tigers players despite still being a youngster.

Benji Marshall, the coach of the Tigers, who has experience coaching young guns, informed Fox League that Galvin has excelled in all of his off-season activities.

“He has performed admirably. Marshall remarked, “He reminds me a lot of a Scott Hill type of five-eighth where he’s big and robust and he can also ball play.”

“He’s very fit and has all the ingredients. He’s been winning everything at training, from the 1.2 km time trial to whatever the challenge is.”

The Wests Tigers have finally acquired someone in the front office who knows what a Steeden genuinely looks like or when a player agency is trying to market a Datsun 180B that looks like a Mercedes, thanks to Shane Richardson’s appointment as CEO.

Richardson quickly changed the conversation to emphasize that the Tigers are a development team, using juniors Da Silva and Galvin from Campbelltown as examples.

The youth movement is leading the way in a change in mindset from buying anyone on the open market as a band-aid solution to focusing on what the Wests Tigers actually need.

Australian Schoolboy Galvin, a junior from Campbelltown, led the National Schoolboys Cup grand final last year after winning the Peter Sterling Medal as the best player.

Galvin and Da Silva, two juniors from Campbelltown who are both products of Westfield Sports, were members of the Wests Tigers side that took home the Harold Matthews trophy in 2022.
