A gunshot during the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory parade at the Super Bowl has left one person dead and twenty-one injured.

The man who died was among the at least 22 people who received gunshot wounds, according to the Kansas City Police Department, and several more had sustained injuries that were immediately life-threatening.

Among those shot were no fewer than eight children.

In addition, police reported that three individuals had been detained after the shooting; the victim has not yet been properly named by the authorities.

Among those denouncing the shooting was US President Joe Biden, who suggested that the incident “shock” the nation’s lawmakers into changing gun regulations.

“We are still gathering information on the number and status of victims, but we know that one victim is deceased,” police chief Stacey Graves continued.

“Officers were there to protect everyone and ran to safety.”

“I’m upset about what transpired today. Those who attended this festivity ought to have anticipated a secure atmosphere.

This tragedy happened as a result of bad actors, of which there were very few.
