The Lions have five players on the NFC roster and seven alternates, according to the NFL’s announcement of the Pro Bowl selections on Wednesday night. It’s a tribute to general manager Brad Holmes, head coach Dan Campbell, and his staff for how they cultivated talent and assembled the roster through free agency.

This year’s Pro Bowl selections include defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, tight end Sam LaPorta, center Frank Ragnow, linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin (special teams), and tackle Penei Sewell.

Hutchinson, 23, who has developed into one of the NFL’s top pass rushers, receives his first Pro Bowl selection in his sophomore campaign. With one more game to go, he now has 9.5 sacks for the second consecutive season. Hutchinson is second in the NFL in total pressures (94), only surpassed by Micah Parsons of Dallas (102). His 20 quarterback hits are second only to Nick Bosa of San Francisco’s 21. Two fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, one interception, and at least 5.0 sacks this season are all shared by Hutchinson, one of three NFL players.

How successful was LaPorta’s first season? The only rookies in history to record a season with at least 80 receptions, 800 yards gained, and nine touchdowns on receptions are Odell Beckham Jr. (2014), LaPorta (2023), Ja’Marr Chase (2021), and Michael Thomas (2016).

In his second season with the Lions, 28-year-old Reeves-Maybin has seven years of experience. He receives his first Pro Bowl selection and has been one of the league’s top special teams players for a while. With thirteen special teams tackles so far this season, he is now tied for the most. Additionally, he has played a key role in a few fictitious punt conversions. He converted a fourth and two on a fake punt in Week 1 by running for a three-yard gain. Week 17: He carried out
