GOOD NEWS: Mike Zimmer joins the Cowboys as DC: Dallas adds…..

On Wednesday afternoon, the team will have an introduction press conference with Mike McCarthy, the head coach of Dallas, and Zimmer.

The next defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys has been selected. On Tuesday, the team said that Mike Zimmer, an experienced coach, will take over as the defense’s captain. Dan Quinn, who earlier this offseason accepted the position of head coach for the Washington Commanders, gets replaced by Zimmer when he joins the Cowboys.

According to ESPN, Zimmer stated, “I’m thrilled and honored to be back with such a wonderful organization.” “I’m thrilled to work with Mike McCarthy, for whom I have had a ton of respect in our NFC North days, and to do anything I can do to help the Joneses and the Cowboys.”

Rex Ryan, the former head coach of the Buffalo Bills (2015–2016) and New York Jets (2009–2014), recently refuted rumors that Zimmer had been hired by Dallas during an interview on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” pregame program before of Super Bowl LVII. Ryan also had an interview for the position of defensive coordinator in Dallas. Shortly after ESPN’s Adam Schefter watched a thorough, live report about the Cowboys’ decision to select Zimmer, Ryan

“To start with, I’m not convinced Zimmer is still in that position. Regarding that, I’m not sure,” Ryan stated on ESPN Sunday. “I can honestly say I don’t believe that’s a fact right now.”

Ryan seems to be fighting for his chance to be the defensive coordinator for a squad that he thinks is almost ready to go to the next level. Ryan claimed he expressed his interest in the position by calling the head coach of the Cowboys at the start of the interview process. After Ryan refuted Schefter’s on-air account, confusion erupted. Schefter clarified the situation on Monday.
