Alabama is “very likely” to land 2025 Mater Dei (Calif.) running back. Jordan Davison

In his first month as head coach of Alabama, has made some wise decisions here in Tuscaloosa. One of the many was keeping Robert Gillespie, the former running backs coach and current assistant head coach, on staff, which has already paid off handsomely for Bama247 in the 2024 signing class and with 2025 targets.

Enrollee for the summer Kevin Riley informed Bama247 that he made the choice to follow through because coach Gillespie is still employed. Anthony Rogers, the top running back in the nation, emphasized the value of having him on staff and gave an explanation of why his commitment to the Crimson Tide has not wavered.

Coach Gillespie was brought up right away in the most recent conversation with Mater Dei (Calif.) High’s four-star running back Jordon Davison.

and the new staff have proved themselves in many ways on the recruiting trail, despite only being on the job for a few weeks. The biggest win of the era so far was reeling five-star Ryan Williams back to Tuscaloosa. The new staff managed to maintain the No. 2 2024 signing class and an impressive Junior Day group was held earlier this month. The reviews of the new staff in Tuscaloosa have been overwhelmingly positive.

So what are they saying about coach and his new staff on the recruiting trail? Bama247 put everything all in one place for some easy reading. We’ve spoken with plenty ranging from to recruits to coaches and everyone in between.

Welcome to Roll Pod, an Alabama sports podcast from Bama247. On today’s episode, Cody and Mike discuss the trend of college coaches leaving for the NFL during this coaching cycle and whether or not Alabama men’s hoops can win the SEC and make a deep run in March.

During this hiring cycle, college coaches have been known to depart for the NFL. Although it’s not unusual, there seem to be more this time around than in previous years.

Only from Alabama did Ryan Grubb go to work as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, Scott Huff left to become the offensive line coach for the same team, and Tommy Rees joined the Cleveland Browns as a tight ends coach (though he was unemployed following Nick Saban’s retirement and Kalen DeBoer’s appointment).

Other notable departures from the United States include Doug Mallory from Michigan for the Ravens, Jeff  from Boston College for the Packers, Charlie Mullen from Illinois for the Giants, and Charlie Partridge from Pittsburgh.

College football should be concerned about the recent departures, even though it’s an interesting trend.

Roll Pod: An Alabama Sports Show from Bama247’s most recent episode features staff writers Cody Goodwin and Mike  talking about those developments along with some Alabama men’s basketball.

The Bama247 staff will talk about everything related to Alabama sports, including football, basketball, recruiting, and everything in between, twice a week. In addition to breaking down press conferences and recapping and previewing games, we’ll occasionally feature interviews with athletes, coaches, and other 247Sports network writers.
