Fast Hits: The Edition Dedicated to Trade Speculation

Not much to get excited about here. Khan thinks departure would be part of a larger plan, and he doesn’t think Perron will be moved.

The Hockey News: Two Wings the Oilers Should Trade For

Daniel  and David Perron are mentioned by Caleb  as two possible targets. I don’t see why both players should be moved while the Wings are still in the running for the playoffs.

Kevin Weekes, in the meantime, speculates that Calgary might be willing to trade for two of its defensemen, both of whom would make sense for Detroit:

If Steve wants to make any moves before the deadline, we’ll never know until it happens. Nothing leaves the vault. But for speculation’s sake, it would be big or go home. Adding a younger, but veteran D should be a priority… But the argument there is why move assets for a when you have several in Grand Rapids who could fill the need. Wouldn’t expect moving James Reimer, since is now sidelined with a lower-body injury.

Detroit isn’t in a “win now” mode just yet. So, making a move for the sake of making a move doesn’t fit the bill. Wouldn’t be upset if decided to keep what he has and see if a wild card berth emerges. If they miss out, reassess and reload in the .

This weekend, MetLife Stadium will host two consecutive Stadium Series games: the Islanders vs. Rangers on Sunday and the Devils vs. Flyers on Tomorrow. Is anyone going to watch?‏

For Detroit, I anticipate a quiet trade deadline.

With the current roster and wildcard spot, the only trades that make sense are similar to the  trade in that they involve using multiple assets to acquire a highly talented player who is in their mid-twenties. By the deadline, there aren’t many (if any?) of these players available.

I doubt  would be very interested in the returns the Wings offer, even though they have a few outstanding  that could be moved and will therefore spark trade rumors and inquiries from other general managers.

I concur; has consistently stated that his goal is to build a championship team, not merely a contender. It wouldn’t be shocking if he made no trades at all or if he did. He performed incredibly well the previous summer; it appears that the were better and the talent pool was a little more open. My two cents. Happy Friday to all of you!
