Cody Barton with Jack Del Rio.

The Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers completed a trade before the NFL Trade Deadline and now, a former Commanders linebacker could help them next season. With

linebacker Dre  tearing his Achilles, the 49ers will need to address the linebacker position this . It’s uncertain how long the recovery process will take for  as he recovers from this tough injury.

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report listed players who could help the 49ers as they’re in bad cap shape, currently -$57.9 million. Of the possible players they could target, Davenport writes that Cody Barton of the Commanders could help them

ability is seriously questioned for the start of the 2024 season.

“After earning $90.5 million in 2023, Barton should be available for a fair price. He accumulated 120 tackles in each of the previous two years.”

Barton is an unrestricted free agent this  after being selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. In 2023, h

made his Commanders debut in 13 games and concluded with 67 solo tackles, 121 total tackles, and 1 interception.

As he recovers from his injury, Barton can provide them with depth and is an affordable option.

After completing a trade before the NFL Trade Deadline, the Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers may benefit from a former Commanders linebacker in the upcoming campaign.

The 49ers will need to make changes at linebacker this  after Dre  tore his Achilles. It’s unclear how much time  will need to recover because

The star of the Dallas Cowboys, Micah Parsons, told NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe the following about Quinn and what he means to him.

“I hope those players come around and give it their all for him, realizing that nobody will love them and cherish them more than Dan Quinn. Thus, man, please take care of my guy and be grateful for his presence and greatness.

Talking one-on-one with Cowboys star Micah Parsons at his third Pro Bowl in three years about what it means to be Jerry Jones’ “all-in” plan, losing his DC Dan Quinn to Commanders, and more:

A player of Barton’s caliber could be easier for the Commanders to stick around if he has a respected defensive mind.

Among other things, one of the San Francisco 49ers’ main priorities this will be to replace . The 49ers will be busy with that and the potential trade candidate Brandon .

The early indications of  comeback are encouraging. According to Ian  of NFL.com, he had a successful surgery and will fully recover.

“A source stated that 49ers star linebacker Dre underwent a successful procedure today to fix a torn Achilles. During the Super Bowl, sustained a

crushing injury when he tore his ACL while sprinting from the sideline onto the field. He’ll recover completely.
