Trae Young Trade Idea: Spurs Make Blockbuster Deal with HawksΣ

The San Antonio Spurs are still trying to find a player to complement Victor  as a second star. Devin  has impressed as of late and looks like a bonafide starter on any NBA team, but he does not have the superstar status that the Spurs could use.

Trae Young has been mentioned as a possible trade target for the Spurs this summer. After the trade that sent Murray to the Atlanta Hawks, the Spurs effectively own Atlanta’s future, so if the Hawks want to rebuild, they should turn toward Texas.

Of course, the Hawks will be looking to start from scratch if they trade their point guard and a recent report from Bleacher Report outlines what some teams can offer Atlanta.

The Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers were the only teams listed who could provide more than two picks without a swap. The Lakers have been linked to Young, but the Spurs, unlike Los Angeles, can offer an even bigger package than the one proposed.

It’s safe to say that the Spurs will be the ones to set the market for the three-time All-Star.

There is hope in San Antonio that Young will continue to improve his shooting and that a one-two punch on offense between him and will put the Spurs over the top. Young is currently leading the league in total assists for the third straight season, so he will have no issue finding when he’s open.

There is concern surrounding Young’s defense, which is , but in a lineup featuring , , and , having a weak link who would lead the offense wouldn’t end San Antonio’s future title hopes.

If the Spurs can swing a deal for Young this summer and draft high-end players who complement the core, the Spurs could see a rapid turnaround as soon as 2025.
