The 2023 season went about as bad as you could draw up for the Mets, as they finished with a 75-87 record and sold at the trade deadline. For the Mets, the 2023 campaign ended with a 75-87 record, and they were traded at the trade deadline. It was about as bad as you could imagine. Yamamoto, a Japanese starting pitcher who signed a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the same amount the Mets offered, was the one big fish they were chasing this .

Although they made a good effort to pursue Yamamoto, the Mets chose to pursue other players. The additions of Harrison , Joey , Sean , and Luis  are noteworthy. David Stearns negotiated lower contracts for each of these new hires. Even though owner Steve Cohen didn’t make the big splashy acquisition that many had anticipated, the Mets

The Mets aren’t expected to do too well, but they do have some good players. Now that we have that out of the way, let’s get to our audacious Mets 2024 predictions.

Francisco  receives a platinum medal

Francisco , a shortstop, was a wise addition to the Mets. Francisco had a great season in 2023, even though the team didn’t perform well overall. has earned a solid reputation on defense over the years, and for good reason.

Every year, Francisco defensive metrics show that they are improving. According to , recorded seven defensive runs saved with six outs above average in the previous season. Swanson of the Chicago Cubs defeated , who was a finalist for the National League shortstop gold glove award.

According to , has the potential to have a fantastic defensive season. As recently as 2021, he recorded 21 outs above average. Along with Cleveland, he was the 2016 Platinum Glove winner. This season, expect him to add another one.

Francisco Alvarez scores more than 30 home runs.
The Mets are placing a lot of money on Francisco Alvarez to establish himself as a key member of the squad. He had a lot of power and showed a lot of flashes the previous season.

Francisco Alvarez hit 25 home runs in 123 games played in the previous season. Though fans would prefer a higher average and on-base percentage, that is an impressive number for a rookie.

Francisco Alvarez should see at least as much playing time as he did the previous season. Expect Alvarez to surpass the 30-home run mark this season, whether it’s from more playing time or just plain hitting growth.

Returning to the postseason in a Wild Card spot, the Mets
Even though the Mets aren’t as good as the Philadelphia Phillies or even the Atlanta Braves in the National League East, there is still reason to think they could be a Wild Card team.

In summary, a great deal of things went wrong in 2023. The Mets should be able to get some innings behind Senga with the addition of and . A team that has , , Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, and probably more depth to round out the roster should make it back to the postseason.
