News flash: it’s real. Former Chicago Bears player Steve “Mongo” McMichael is recovering from his hospital stay, according to his family.

CBS Chicago — Steve “Mongo” McMichael’s family reports that he is

improving and responding to antibiotics following his recent MRSA diagnosis.

With IV antibiotics, the family hopes to have him home on Tuesday.

Due to an infection, the legendary Bears player was recently admitted to the

intensive care unit. He was admitted to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox on Thursday due to a urinary tract infection.

The news that McMichael will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year was only revealed to him

last week.

Since 2021, he has been fighting Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as ALS.
