The Dallas Cowboys’ next move at right tackle? Fish Podcast: “Beyond the Rumors” and “The DeMarco Rule”

FRISCO: As a matter of general procedure, how do we find out what the Dallas Cowboys are considering when it comes to bringing a running back into the mix?

We know this because we broke the story nearly nine years ago of the in-depth investigation conducted within the company that helped them give the painful “no” to NFL running champion DeMarco Murray.

Murray’s situation served as the impetus for a historical examination of the age at which running backs “hit the wall” in the spring of 2015. Long believed to be around 30, that estimate came solely from NFL conjecture. However, the internal analysis found that star backs for heavylifting reach a performance ceiling around age 28.

Murray was so permitted to depart after rushing for 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns. And after joining the Eagles the next year? All he got was 702 yards. Even though the Titans eventually plucked him off the trash heap after he ran for 1,287 yards in 2016, he was done after a year, having started 15 games but only accumulating 659 yards.

Here come the major thoughts now. How about Saquon Barkley? Josh Jacobs? Henry Derrick?

According to Fowler, “some personnel people inside the league believe” that Baltimore’s free-agency goal is to “target a running back with pedigree.”

This report is “tricky” in that it is both eye-catching and sufficiently ambiguous to prevent the author from becoming bogged down in details.

With J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, two running backs for the Baltimore Ravens, about to become free agents, Pollard steps up to replace Ezekiel Elliott as “America’s Team”‘s main ball carrier.

The bad news for Dallas is that Pollard’s average rushing yards per game decreased from 5.2 to 4.0. The Cowboys will undoubtedly take that into consideration when deciding whether to make a change. There are rumors in Dallas regarding well-known runners as well (Derrick Henry, anyone? ), but CowboysSI.com has been informed that it is more probable to use a non-first-round pick on a runner.

As running backs in the NFL get less and less playing time, Pollard is set to sign his “last big contract.” With Lamar Jackson leading the backfield, we can only image that “electricity” becoming even more intense. However, right now? We’re not sure if this is something the Ravens are “imaging,” or if this is simply ESPN rumors.
