The two guys, who were not acquainted before, are currently being prosecuted for armed criminal action, unauthorized use of a firearm, and second-degree murder.

Court records state that the altercation that resulted in the gunfire exchange started close to the intersection of West Persing Road and Kessler Road.

Eyewitnesses report that Mays got aggressively close to the group of four men, brandishing a handgun, which escalated the verbal altercation.

Mays said that he was initially hesitant to shoot since there were kids around, but he later acknowledged firing, explaining what he did.
