Dan Marino, the legend of the NFL, recently shared his own ranking of the all-time top quarterbacks.

Marino, who is often present on lists of the greatest players to have ever played at his position, added a name that may surprise some people but left himself off.

In response to a specific request to name his quarterback Mount Rushmore, former Miami Dolphins signal-caller Dan Marino provided five names as opposed to the traditional four.

“Those guys, all those guys—to me, [Joe] Montana and [John] Elway, Jim Kelly,” Marino stated to Sports Illustrated prior to Super Bowl LVIII.

“Patrick Mahomes will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. You have a lot of men, including Tom Brady. There are thus many options to choose from.”

Marino’s list includes Brady and Montana, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. Due in large part to their accomplishments in Super Bowls, the two are regarded as some of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

Brady is the only quarterback with seven Super Bowl victories and ten Super Bowl starts, more than any other. Montana was the first player to win MVP of the Super Bowl three times, and he was 4-0 in those games.

Mahomes and Elway are also not unexpected. Elway trails only Brady with five Super Bowl starts. Before concluding his career with back-to-back Super Bowl victories with the Broncos, he was a member of three losing Super Bowl teams.

Elway was a multi-purpose quarterback who could make plays with both his legs and his arm. He was also skilled at designing drives that would win games.

Before the Super Bowl, in a one-on-one interview with CBS Sports, Marino referred to Mahomes as “a really special player”.

Mahomes, who joined Montana and Brady as the only players to win three Super Bowl MVP medals, demonstrated that once more against the 49ers. Additionally, Mahomes joined the select group of five starting quarterbacks who have won three or more Super Bowls.

When asked to compare his game to that of Mahomes, Marino responded, “He’s an amazing athlete, first and foremost.” “I was a decent athlete, but not as excellent as he is in terms of how he runs the ball, throws from different heights, or produces things on his own.

“For me, I was able to do that a little bit, but mostly, my stuff was from the pocket.”

But Kelly’s presence is unexpected. Despite being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Kelly is frequently disregarded when talking about the greatest quarterbacks of all time. That could have something to do with Kelly’s four Super Bowl disappointments while playing for the Bills. Kelly’s NFL career was also somewhat brief.
