The licenses of players who took part in the “Games of the Future” hosted in Russia have been suspended by the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation.

It was announced on the federation’s official website that players who participated in propaganda events and attended the opening ceremony would have their licenses terminated.

“According to information regarding the participation of some Latvian hockey players in the ‘Games of the Future’ festival, which takes place in Russia, the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation has suspended the licenses of these hockey players,” said the statement.

The Latvian federation, however, has made the decision to withhold the identities of those who have been hit with these penalties.

It’s important to note that the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA), and the National Hockey League (NHL) have all made announcements about their intentions for NHL players to compete in the 2026 and 2030 Winter Olympics.
