In an attempt to play superior defense for ninety minutes of play, Atlanta United invested a lot of money during the transfer window and a lot of time in the preseason.
Only a few months after Columbus terminated the Five Stripes’ season in the playoffs, the team dropped its season opener 1-0 to the Crew on Saturday due to a few players who, you guessed it, “switched off” for a brief period of time at Lower.

Atlanta United attempted a comeback in the second half, but they were outplayed in the first by the Crew—who had just gotten their title rings prior to the game. Although a lot is expected of Atlanta United’s attackers this season, they produced more attacks but were unable to score the game’s tying goal.
Brad Guzan stopped a penalty kick to keep the game close.
