The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly working to extend Chris Jones’ contract, but cornerback Sneed will officially receive the franchise tag tomorrow.
During the previous season, Kansas City’s defense was a strength of the team. The defense was steady and kept opponents
at bay, even though the offense was hit and miss. Therefore, the Chiefs’ desire to have both Sneed and Jones back makes sense.
A stellar season was had by Sneed. Every week, he would routinely bottle up elite wide receivers. He also finished with two interceptions, one fumble recovery, 14 pass deflections, and 78 total tackles.
Throughout the season, he covered receivers, making it difficult for opponents to throw in his direction.
We’ll see if the Chiefs and Sneed can eventually reach a long-term agreement. Everyone is waiting for Chris Jones to sign an extension prior to the start of free agency
