At his Thursday media conference, Ransom gave credit for his recovery in part to his love for head coach Ryan Day.

“I adore Coach Ryan Day’s increased level of involvement with each and every student. In my opinion, Coach Day is the greatest coach in the nation. We’ll be a better team overall, I believe, with him playing on special teams, coaching everyone to be better, keeping the older men accountable, and assisting the older people in holding the younger guys accountable.

Ransom missed the entirety of 2023 due to a Lisfranc injury after suffering a season-ending non-contact injury versus Wisconsin in November. He had broken his leg in the Rose Bowl in 2022, so this was his second major injury during his time in college. Though he had assistance, he said that this one was more difficult to recover from.

“I refuse to lie here and claim that I wasn’t crushed when it initially happened—instead, I was completely wrecked. I simply believe that God has a purpose for me and that I will overcome this obstacle in order to become a stronger, wiser, and better player. As a result, I’m excited to see what adventures he has in store for me this year.”
