Spurs had only one point from their past five games, so they are left to mull over a commanding performance and yet another loss.
West Ham gets within three points of their London rivals.
The top four are separated by six points. Spurs are three points off of the Champions League qualifying spots in fifth place.
Spurs and West Ham are now only three points apart in ninth place, but David Moyes will be closely monitoring the teams that are ahead of them.
Following a loss at Goodison Park, which helped pull Everton out of the bottom three, Newcastle is still in seventh place.
