ob Gronkowski to Serve as Boston Marathon Grand Marshal in 2024

The four-time Super Bowl champion will lead the pack and hand the trophy over at the finish line.

The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) said on Tuesday that Rob Gronkowski, a four-time Super Bowl winner, will serve as the race’s grand marshal.

Gronkowski follows in the footsteps of Boston sports legend David Ortiz, who also served as the race’s grand marshal in 2023.

Gronkowski has been chosen as the marathon’s grand marshal in addition to receiving the 2024 Patriots’ Award, which is given to an individual or group that is “patriotic, philanthropic, inspirational, and fosters goodwill and sportsmanship.” The Boston Marathon and Patriots’ Day, the yearly celebration on which the event has taken place since 1897, are linked by the Patriots’ Award.

Rob Gronkowski, a four-time Super Bowl winner, will serve as this year’s grand marshal for the Boston Marathon, the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) said on Tuesday.

Gronkowski is carrying on the tradition of another Boston sports legend, David Ortiz, who was the race’s grand marshal in 2023.

Gronkowski has been named the grand marshal of the marathon in addition to receiving the 2024 Patriots’ Award, which is given to an individual or group that exemplifies “patriotism, philanthropy, inspiration, and promotes sportsmanship and goodwill.” Since 1897, the Boston Marathon has been held on Patriots’ Day, an annual holiday. This connection is made possible by the Patriots’ Award.

Is Gronk returning to the NFL?

Gronkowski will lead the 26.2-mile race in a 2024 Honda Prologue on April 15 as grand marshal. Before the top runners show up, he will deliver the prize to the Boylston Street finish line.

According to a statement from Nicole Juri of the BAA, “having him also serve as Grand Marshal on race day will bring a lot of additional joy and excitement for the thousands of spectators who will be lining the streets from Hopkinton to Boston.”
