A former Orlando Pirates shot stopper has been unveiled as Ghana’s new national team goalkeeper coach!

Fatau Dauda, a former goalie for the Orlando Pirates, has been appointed as a new coach for the Ghana national team.

Dauda, who made three appearances for the Buccaneers in 2012 and 2013, was introduced as the new goalie coach for Ghana.

The 38-year-old goalie was just appointed goalkeeper coach of the Sudanese national team, but he has since returned home to support his club.

Along with Joseph Laumann and John Paintsil, he will support Otto Addo, the recently hired Black Stars coach.

According to 3News, Black Stars coach Otto Addo has appointed Joseph Laumann and two former players, John Paintsil and Fatawu Dauda, as assistant coaches.

Famed for his skill in goalkeeping, Fatawu Dauda played 23 times for Ghana and had significant appearances at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

 

As a former goalkeeper, Dauda has a distinguished playing career that included stints with the likes of Orlando Pirates, Voradep, Okwahu United, and AshantiGold. His views are likely to be invaluable in improving the team’s defensive qualities.
