Dundee v Rangers postponement to be probed by SPFL as statement released on late Dens Park call-off

The match was postponed, and the governing body will look into what happened on Sunday.

The Scottish Professional Football League has said that it will look into the events leading up to Sunday’s postponed Premiership game between Rangers and Dundee.

Because of waterlogging, the Dens Park surface was judged unusable, therefore match referee Don Robertson decided to call off the game less than two hours before the planned noon kickoff.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement was incensed by the decision and wanted the game to go ahead. The Ibrox club said they were only informed in a hurried manner by Dundee about possible problems with the ground.

The regulating board of the game declared that an investigation will be conducted in a statement on Monday afternoon. A representative for the SPFL stated, “The postponement of any match is disappointing given the impact it has on supporters.” “This was especially frustrating because the game was on Sky Sports live and it was right before the split.

This postponement’s circumstances will be looked into by the SPFL.

The match’s new date will now need to be arranged by the SPFL and its broadcast partner; it is most likely to take place on April 2, April 3, or April 10. Between now and the league’s split, there are three rounds of games. Rangers and Celtic’s third Old Firm meeting of the season is scheduled for Sunday, April 10.
