Since John Harbaugh joined the Baltimore Ravens as head coach in 2008, the starting offensive line has required some type of rebuilding every four years. It has historically been due to a confluence of elements like age, injury attrition, or the inevitable financial burden that results from having their franchise quarterback on a second contract.

Now that the team has traded right tackle Morgan Moses and allowed both right guard Kevin and left guard John Simpson to go in free agency, they have three openings on their starting line.

At the NFL Scouting Combine in 2024, Harbaugh stated, “The offensive line is where it starts.” “We

discussed that back in 2008, and it has always been the case. Yes, you do win in the trenches first. We believe that our concept is centered on the offensive line, yet there are some concerns with our offensive line. It will be necessary to undertake some reconstruction work there.

It’s not time to panic or worry, even though a growing segment of the national media and the Ravens’ own fan base are starting to question the reasoning for dismantling a unit that helped the franchise advance to the AFC Championship Game for the first time in more than ten years.

During the previous offseason, general manager Eric was criticized for not making any significant moves to

enhance the team’s pass rush, and the Ravens finished first in the league in sacks. Two 10-year veterans who joined in August and September alone contributed a total of 18.5 sacks to the team’s total. There were no better conditions for him and the team’s brain trust to acquire a younger, less expensive offensive lineman.

The Ravens makeover might be a huge success quickly given the quantity of young talent they’ve amassed over the last three rounds and the abundance of talented prospects expected to be available throughout what is thought to be the deepest offensive line draft in years.
