The Black and Whites enter the Challenge Cup and a do or die clash with the Huddersfield Giants in what some have suggested is the only way for Hull FC to save their season though this has been disputed by Tony Smith himself.

The two clubs met in the Challenge Cup back in 2022 when Huddersfield Giants got the edge on their way to Wembley.’He’s the alpha-male’ | Will…’We want to win’ | Hull KR bullish on…’Catch and kiss’ and ‘driving planes!’…’We should’ve scored more in first…Smith : You got a play of bit of footie…Smith: Team showed more intent in the…Peters ‘gutted’ after narrow defeat to…Burgess proud of his players | ‘We got…Wigan players ‘proud’ to reflect on…Smith: Kicking comes naturally to signs SEVEN-year contract…Dodd: We weren’t us in that first half

Hull FC have not returned to the Challenge Cup Final since they won it in back to back seasons in 2016 and 2017.

A win against the Giants would surely inject some life into their season especially ahead of their Good Friday derby clash against Hull KR next week.

Another way Hull FC could give themselves some optimism would be through a new deal for an exciting young star.

Recently Hull FC centre Cam Scott has been linked with a move to Wakefield Trinity for 2025 due to the fact he is out of contract and of course Wakefield have been making a real splash in the transfer market for both 2024 and 2025.

So, Tony Smith was questioned on BBC Radio Humberside about Scott’s future and Smith revealed he has held talk with Hull FC.

Smith said: “I’m not sure, they’ve had some talks. I know our CEO has talked to his agent. I don’t think it’s really relevant about what time of the year it is. Those deals get done well before the allowed time.”

This led to Smith questioning the rules about signing players claiming deals get done why before May which is the supposed opening up of the transfer market:

“It’s been talked about before the season starts sometimes. So it’s just nonsense having that date. It’s just a nonsense. All it does is put a focus on it.

“The agents talk about all all their clients to clubs all year round so it’s just  a crazy focus on that point in time.

“In terms of Cam, he’s a great kid, we’d love to have him and I think he’s great to work with. If we can afford him we’ll keep him, if he wants to go he’ll go, that’s pretty much it.”
