In the Nedbank Cup meeting between the Soweto giants and NFD side Hungry Lions—a contest that the former ultimately won 4-0—the Pirates star gave way.

After tripping and falling on the field in the first half, the midfield player was taken to the hospital on a stretcher.

The athlete has now been officially released by the Bucs and given permission to return to training.

“Orlando Pirates can confirm that midfielder has been given the all-clear to resume training in the coming days,” the club stated on Tuesday.

Shortly before halftime on Saturday, the 34-year-old had to be stretchered off the field due to chest pains and dyspnea. With help from the medics, the club’s medical staff attended to him, and he was soon sent to Milpark Hospital for more care.

“After consulting with a professional, the player was released following the completion of all required investigations.

“I’ve been taking it easy and resting as instructed. I’m feeling great and am prepared to play again; the coach and the team physician will provide guidance on when I can return to the squad.”

Due to the FIFA international break, there are no club duties this week, giving the Soweto giants extra time to evaluate the midfielder.

The 34-year-old has participated in 10 games this season in all competitions, and as Pirates go closer to the season’s finish, will be eager to use the seasoned midfielder.

On Wednesday, the former player is anticipated to return to his colleagues, and on March 30, he may be eligible for selection against Sekhukhune United.

With 33 points from 20 games, Bucs are presently second in the standings, but they will have to contend with five other teams if they hope to finish in second place and advance to the CAF Champions League.
