Pablo Franco Martin, the head coach of Mazola FC, has expressed his satisfaction with the Nedbank Cup matchup between his team and the Orlando Pirates.

On Monday at SuperSport studios in Rand burg, the two teams were matched against one another in a draw. The fixtures’ dates are still under confirmation.

Martin expressed his dissatisfaction with the draw while acknowledging that the Buccaneers will be a difficult team to play against.

The idea that they would be playing at home, though, thrilled him. And he hopes that the backing of the home crowd will help them.

Martin remarked, “I won’t say that I’m happy because we’re playing one of the best teams, the defending champions.”

“Over the past year and a half, they have been performing incredibly well. I’m glad we’re playing at home because, at this point in the season, it’s crucial that we save up for a trip.

“With our supporters behind us, I think we will be more competitive, but all teams are tough right now.”

By leading the team to their first Nedbank Cup quarterfinal in twelve years, Martin claims to have created history.

hopes to repeat their success from earlier in the season when they advanced to the Carling Knockout Cup semifinals in this competition.

The fact that we are participating in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals for the first time in twelve years is the nicest thing, he continued.

“This is a tiny bit of history as Mazola did not make it to the competition’s quarterfinals, but we are excited for the game because I’m sure we will have our opportunities.

“We already demonstrated our ability to defeat any team in the Carling (Knockout) Cup, the previous competition using this system. We had made it to the semifinals and were on our way to the championship game.

“We’re going to play our best football right now and strive to qualify.

“It will be extremely difficult, but it will also inspire us all, because these are the kinds of games that [provide] us the chance to grow and etch significant historical chapters, and we are here to do just that.
